Semiotics

In this website showing semiotics from pictures of pipes, happiness, and more.

Semiotics is a tradition of thought known for calling attention to the formal structures of signification, of meaning-making, in culture. In so far as it can be used to reveal the arbitrary or constructed character of the meanings we use in our everyday lives, semiotics is also a form of social criticism. In the pictures shown in the pages of the semiotics from the website, the pictures show the object and that is it. For example, there is a picture of a pipe and says this is not a pipe in another language under it meaning that it is a picture of a pipe and not an actual pipe.
